How Did Waiakea Water Become a Worldwide Success?

By Chad · On March 21, 2018

Water is the most precious resource on the planet, and as we go into the future, its value will only go up. As the water industry grew, competition got tight. However, most of the competitors were “stuck in the old world,” still not embracing the changes in the world.

And then one day Ryan Emmons came along, presented the Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water and swept the competition.

Who Is Ryan Emmons?

Ryan is the founder of Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water. In one Forbes article, Ryan mentions how he saw massive potential in the bottled water industry, but that no one paid attention to it. According to Ryan, his competitors were over 50 years old, detached from the world in which most people exist.

So, he decided to take advantage of this potential and create a product that has these three features: it is sustainable, it has unique health benefits, and the packaging is environmental.

Waiakea Water Health Benefits

Waiakea Water is premium water, meaning that it is radically different from ordinary bottled water. Some of the major features of the Waiakea Water are:

  • Waiakea water is Hawaii volcanic water. It travels through volcanic rocks (Mauna Loa volcano) and becomes enriched with minerals such as potassium and calcium. These minerals are known to have a good effect on your health (bones, hair, nails)
  • Waiakea water has an ideal amount of silica, ensuring the best possible taste
  • Waiakea water ph ranges from 7.8 to 8.8 and is naturally rich with alkalines and electrolytes.

Packaging and Philanthropy

Aside from all the health benefits, Waiakea water is packaged in biodegradable bottles. In fact, Waiakea water is one of the first bottled water companies to receive CarbonNeutral certificate. Not only that this will attract consumers and is good for business, but it is also good for the environment. Moreover, it will force the competition to follow the Waiakea’s footsteps.

Ryan is also a philanthropist and is partnered with pump aid, donating 650ml of clean water for every bottle he sold. He realized that the Waiakea water, which is premium water, won’t benefit those who need regular clean water, and thus he signed a partnership deal with the Pump Aid.

Recipe For Success

Several factors contributed to Waiakea water success, and all of them make perfect sense when observed individually. It took courage and wisdom to combine them all. One the one hand Waiakea water is first of its kind; it is the first volcanic water.

Most people did not even know that there was such thing as volcanic water, not to mention the volcanic water benefits. Then there is the environmental element, packing water in eco friendly bottles. There is this paradox bottled water companies have chosen to ignore; they were selling clean water in plastic bottles, and plastic is one of the major polluters of fresh water! It just didn’t make sense.

On top of all that, Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water company gives back to the community, to those who need help. More specifically, to those who need water. There is no doubt that Ryan’s business module will inspire other people and encourage them to bring changes to other industries too.
