Just looking at imagery of the breathtaking Canadian landscape is enough to ignite wanderlust in even the most contented of armchair travellers. Where outdoor adventure sports are concerned, it’s hard not to be inspired by the stunning peaks of the Rockies that run through British Columbia, in particularly the winter (and summer) playgrounds of Banff and the Squamish region.
Towards the western coast of Canada, the breathtaking Pacific beaches at Tofino play host to surfers waiting in the sunshine to catch one of the beach bound rollers, whilst further out to sea, whales casually surge past on their annual migrations. The region of Squamish is hailed as the Outdoor Recreational capital of Canada and has some awe inspiring vistas that Canadians regular explore through remote hiking routes, sheer rock climbing challenges or energetic days out participating in a spot of cross country skiing (list of activities by no means exhaustive!).
To whet your appetite for the Canadian outdoors even more, we’ve compiled 10 videos highlighting some of the most exhilarating outdoor pursuits in Canada (in some of the world’s most picturesque scenery) with a view to making this great nation a valid option for your holidays. From snowboarding to surfing, the range of activities on offer make Canada a year round vacation destination no matter what your sporting preference. Click on the video’s to play our Canadian clips!
