You guys all know how much I love Toronto, and that I love sharing the latest restaurants and events with you. You’ll also know I adore Kensington Market, one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in downtown Toronto. With something for absolutely everyone, I never get bored visiting and I’m sure you won’t either. While not a new restaurant, The Burgernator is always impressing me with their burgers and amazing customer service. I want to draw attention to different spots in the Market over the next couple of weeks, so to start off, I’m going to tell you what I think you should order at the Burgernator next time you go– but check out their Instagram to pick something out yourself!
Peckish: Commander Burger
The Classic Arsenal at the Burgernator is full of affordable and delicious burgers to munch on if you’re feeling hungry, but not starving. Commander Burger is one of my favourite value burgers at the restaurant, and it’s just a delicious cheese burger with Burgernator sauce (it tastes a lot like Big Mac sauce, only better), lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Coming in under $7, it’s a great lunch option to get if you’re in the mood for a burger.
Starving: Atomic Burger
This is probably one of my favourite burgers on the menu, and when I tell you what’s on it you won’t be surprised. You get the Burgernator staple of a delicious beef patty, but along with that and the usual lettuce and tomatoes, you get a deep-fried herb-crusted cheese along with a sun-dried tomato aioli. The aioli is amazing and the cheese really elevates this burger to something angelic. Because of the cheese, it is a bit heavier than other things on the menu, so if I feel like I could eat the entire world, I usually grab this burger.
Chicken: Hasta La Vista, Birdie
I grew up eating my fair share of chicken burgers because my parents weren’t keen on letting me eat beef burgers as a child, so I still sometimes gravitate towards them when I go to the Burgernator. My favourite chicken burger, HLVB, is made up of a delicious chicken breast, sauteed mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, a basil pesto aioli, and lettuce and tomatoes. The basil is really refreshing, and I especially love this burger in the summer.
Vegetarian: Battle Fields
The Burgernator has two absolutely delicious vegetarian options, but Battle Field is my favourite because the patty is a giant portabello mushroom stuffed with herbs and cheese! It comes with the usual lettuce and tomato, but they also make a delicious rosemary and roasted garlic aioli that make this burger feel so, so hearty that you won’t even miss the meat.
Something Different: Bulldozer
I don’t know how many of you have had lamb burgers, but I love them and wish more places served them. The Burgernator puts this burger together with a lean lamb patty, mango salsa, sauteed jalapenos, chipotle aioli and havarti cheese. I love the freshness of the salsa, the spice of the jalapenos, and the creaminess of the cheese, and this is definitely one of my favourite burgers on the menu.
