3 Great Valentine’s Day Restaurants in Mississauga

By Tammy · On January 27, 2019

This year, Valentine’s Day is quite close to a lot of university students’ semester breaks (or, what we call Reading Week). A lot of the best universities in the country are in Ontario, and a lot of them are squished in and around the Greater Toronto Area. One of my good friends is traveling from Wales to the GTA to visit his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day this year, and he’ll be staying in Mississauga because it’s much cheaper than staying in Toronto. I’ve been hearing this a lot, lately: couples visiting the area and staying in Mississauga because it’s more affordable is not only smart, but also saves you from a lot of the crowds in Toronto’s hot spots on Valentine’s Day! My friend inspired to make a list of places he could take his girlfriend to this Valentine’s Day, and I thought I’d include some of it here.

WIND Japanese & Thai

WIND has some of the best nigiri I have ever had in my life, and that’s saying a lot because I eat a lot of sushi and am rather picky. The restaurant offers both a la carte and all-you-can-eat menus, and both do not skimp on quality. The restaurant setting is romantic, and the price points for most of their food is quite reasonable considering the quality of the food and the fact that this is a fancier restaurant. Waiters regularly come through the dining rooms with freshly grilled meats as you’re eating, and the garlic shrimp is to-die-for. I think WIND would be a lovely place for a romantic dinner, though I would skip a Valentine’s AYCE lunch here because the lunch menu is laughably short compared to the dinner menu.

Snug Harbour

Snug Harbour is one of the features of Port Credit, one of the loveliest neighbourhoods in Mississauga. It overlooks the water, and is quite gorgeous during the warmer months when the patio is open, but don’t let the cold weather stop you from visiting the restaurant! This place has delicious seafood, and you absolutely must try the oysters. Sometimes, they have oysters the size of your palm for the same prize as the usual ones! I love this Mississauga restaurant because of the location and some winning dishes, and it is quite cozy on the inside so it’s always been one of my favourite romantic spots in the city.

El Mariachi

One of the most brightly coloured buildings in Streetsville, it’s hard to miss El Mariachi’s sign advertising their tacos and churros. Their churros aren’t as good what I’ve had at Border MX (which is conveniently a few steps away from El Mariachi!), but the atmosphere here is great. The music and the entrees are delicious and super flavourful, and this is one of the most popular date spots in the city.
