Winnipeg is so underrated as a Canadian travel destination, and that’s such a huge shame! Winnipeg has so much to offer for tourists of all sorts: from nature destinations to some of the best shopping in Canada, Winnipeg has it all. In the heart of Winnipeg is The Forks, and the district is central to everything you’d like to do in Winnipeg. Here are a few suggestions if you find yourself in the area!
The Forks Market
This place is perfect anytime of day for a meal. Full of delicious local produce and beers, the Market is home to several restaurants with cuisines from all over the world, and drinks that you’re sure to love. Food is also decently affordable here, and it’s easy to find a hearty breakfast or a dinner feast. After 5, the Market fills up with young people flocking to bars and pubs, and the vibrant community really comes to life.
Visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights
One of the most unique and moving museums in the world, the Museum for Human Rights highlights pressing issues facing people all over the world. From the Holocaust to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, the museum uses virtual reality and other technology to help their exhibits come alive to connect with visitors.
Visit the Assiniboine Zoo
Winnipeg’s zoo is one of the city’s favourite places to spend a day, the zoo has over 200 animals in some of the most well-kept exhibits in the country. Just a tip for when you visit: try to visit when the polar bears are in the water. It’s the most magical experience since they’ll only be a few feet from you! If they’re asleep when you drop by, keep checking every hour or so or ask a trainer when they’ll be feeding the bears.
