Niagara-on-The-Lake’s Candlelight Stroll

By Faisal · On April 6, 2019

Just a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of Niagara Falls is the cozy and charming town of Niagara-on-The-Lake. Known for its wineries and upscale neighbourhoods, the town never lost its Old World charm. One of my favourite things about this town is the sheer enthusiasm that the inhabitants meet Christmas with, and driving along the roads is always such a treat in December when all the Christmas lights are up. Another of my favourite holiday events in the town is Niagara-on-The-Lake’s Candlelight Stroll, a treat for all ages.

Because of the history of the region, Niagara-on-The-Lake’s Candlelight Stroll is essentially a guided walk through the town. Local choirs and other seasonal entertainment accompany or meet you while you walk through the town, listening to a local historian’s talk on the area, and it really does get you into the holiday spirit!

If you’re coming in from out of town, there are plenty of hotels in Niagara Falls, Canada from which to choose. Marriott on the Falls is perhaps the most scenic option, as it is the closest property to the waterfall and features breathtaking Fallsview Guest Rooms. There are also four restaurants and bars to go along with 40,000 feet of meeting space, an indoor pool, and an on-site fitness room, making the hotel itself a destination. You’re only about 20 minutes from the area’s top wineries and 30 minutes from Niagara-on-the-Lake, as well, so the hotel offers visitors the best of both worlds.

The event is free for all to attend, and you can purchase candles at the event or bring your own. Beginning at the Old Courthouse building on 26 Queen Street on the 30th of November, the walk is expected to begin at 6:30 PM and end at 9 PM. Dress appropriately for the weather, and make sure you’ve had a nice dinner before coming out! I hope I see you there!
