If you’ve ever been to the West Coast, you’ll know that Vancouver is a hub of activity. There’s always something fun going on, and in such a multicultural city, you know that everyone will have big plans for Saint Patrick’s Day. My Irish friends out West felt left out after I published my last list of restaurants, so they asked me if I’d make a list of places you can get an Irish dinner in Vancouver. After some thorough research, he’s our top 3 picks for grabbing an Irish dinner in Vancouver this Saint Patrick’s Day weekend.
The Blarney Stone
Blarney Stone is located in historic Gastown, and has been open since 1972. It is the oldest Irish pub in the area, and has one of the best Saint Patrick’s Day parties on the West Coast. With live music, great food, and great people, this was suggested several times as a great place for an Irish dinner in Vancouver. I’m told that the steak and Guinness pie is hearty, delicious, and affordable.
The Irish Heather
A bit on the pricier side, the Irish Heather is a gastropub in the heart of Gastown. The interior has a casual feel, and is often frequented by the after-work crowd looking to grab a couple of drinks before heading home. The food is lovely, and both the corned beef dinner and the “After the Pub” curry are great meals to have this Saint Patrick’s day.
Dubh Linn Gate
At a similar price point as the Irish Heather, Dubh Linn Gate is another gem of a place to grab an Irish dinner in Vancouver. While an Irish pub at heart, the menu here is more inclusive of Canadian favourites, like poutine, while also leaving room for Irish staples. The steak and Guinness pie is a delicious thing to put in your mouth, but the Yorky is a study in decadence: delicious shaved beef stuffed into a giant Yorkshire pudding, what more could you want!
