Last year, people in Ontario were worried that they were losing one of the most popular Christmas events of region: the Streetsville Santa Claus Parade. Thankfully, the parade is returning to downtown Streetsville this year, allowing people on that end of the GTA to enjoy festivities without having to go to downtown Toronto (though that’s a lot of fun, too!). If you’re in the area on November 25th, head out to Streetsville to enjoy the parade! An event that’s perfect for all ages, you can go by yourself or take your whole family with you—there’s something for everyone!
Where’s the Parade?
As usual, the parade takes place on Ontario Street and Queen Street South, right in the heart of downtown Streetsville. Floats and performers make their way down the street, with the parade ending at Church Street South, where there’s even more fun to be had. This year, the parade falls during Christmas in Streetsville, a weekend full of events, markets, and performances to celebrate the season.
Last year, the Santa Claus parade was going to be cancelled indefinitely, despite being a part of Mississauga’s modern history—the parade has been going since 1974! People throughout the GTA were not having it, and so after a combined community effort, it’s back! This year’s parade promises to be one of the best and biggest parades ever, and the turnout is expected to be huge. If you enjoy Christmas parades, taking your picture with Santa Claus, drinking some of the most delicious eggnog in the city, and caroling with the best of them, drop by the parade on November 25th and enjoy yourself!
