It’s no secret I love Toronto– it’s got so much to do on every single day of the year, you’ll never be bored! From theatres to drag shows to great food, Toronto has it all… but all of that does come with a hefty price tag as far as accommodations are concerned. If you’re visiting Toronto, I always suggest staying in Mississauga if you can’t find reasonable accommodation in the city, which is fine because Mississauga is really close to Toronto, and has its own charm. One of the best things about the Greater Toronto Area is it that all the cities invest in public programming, and most of the cities have Movie Nights open to the public, for free! Everyone talks about the Toronto movie nights, so in this article, I’m going to take a break from hyping up Toronto to talk about Mississauga’s movie nights, since you’ll probably be spending some time there anyway if you’re visiting Toronto.
For the last few years, residents of Mississauga have been flocking to the city’s Celebration Square to watch some really great films under the stars. All you have to bring is a blanket, some snacks, and maybe some good company, and you’re all set to enjoy one of the city’s famous movie nights. From classic films to the latest block busters, there’s something for everyone throughout the summer, with films showing once a week. This year, films are shown on Thursdays, starting at 8:30 and running til 10:30 in the evening.
On June 14th, you can catch Mrs. Doubtfire, and the week after you can catch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. There are lots of great films running until August 30th, but some highlights are Star Wars: The Last Jedi on July 26th, Black Panther on August 2nd, and Coco on August 9th. There are a few family-friendly titles too, including Paddington 2 on July 19th. The Celebration Square is just a few minutes away from the Square One shopping mall, and is easily reached by car or public transit from anywhere in the GTA.
