OK, so the rest of the world might not be able to tell the two apart, but for a Canadian, there’s no greater insult than being mistaken for an American – and here’s why…
- Canada has two national languages – some Americans can’t even manage one.
- Canada managed to fob Celine Dion off on America – the horse-faced warbler is currently residing in Florida.
- America claims it’s the capital of the movie world, but some of the highest grossing recent films, including Twilight and X Men, were made on Canadian soil.
- Footage of the Canadian side of Niagara Falls was included in a promotional film designed to lure tourists to the United States – duh!
- Measured by landmass, Canada is the second largest country in the world, after Russia – and bigger is better, unless you’re talking about…
- Obesity, something that is a MASSIVE problem in the US, mainly due to the country’s inferior healthcare system.
- Americans can’t brew beer – hence the joke; how is sex in a canoe like American beer? They’re both fucking close to water.
- According to the Human Development Index, which incorporates factors such as life expectancy, literacy rate, gross domestic product, Canada ranked the 4th best country, while the US finished at 12th, behind nations like Japan and France.
- The electric light bulb, television, telephone, Velcro, zips, insulin, penicillin, Smarties and Superman were all invented in Canada.
- Canada could kick America’s ass at hockey.
Bonus
In the war of 1812, which was started by America, Canadians pushed the Americans back beyond the White House and then burned it to the ground – along with most of Washington, allowing tens of thousands of American slaves to escape and seek refuge in Nova Scotia.

Regarding number eight, it should be nations such as Japan and France, not nations like Japan and France.
This is coming from an American.
We Americans are idiots. We think we are better than the rest of the world. We are the fastest, the most unhealthy, as well as one of the dumbest nations in the world. Someone come to America and kick our ass. Not only do we need it, we DESERVE it.
#10…Canada DID kick America’s ass at hockey. Thank you Mr.Crosby.
i find (as a Canadian) that people have a very anti-american attitude because of Canadian stereotypes in American media. I’m positive any American can come to Canada and have a good time, and vice-versa. I love Canada ๐
I guess being the first to land on the moon, and having the top universities in the world isn’t good enough for you. Also Canadians did not participate in the war of 1812 unless your referring to British settlers, because Canada didn’t win its independence till July 1, 1867 because you clearly don’t know how to do math that was 55 years after the war of 1812. Since you clearly don’t read, Quebec the providence I am guessing you suggest is responsible for Canada’s second language, has wanted to separate for sometime now. Maybe open a book before you right some lame and honestly sad dig about America
USA USA USA USA!!!!!!!! WERE NUMBER 1 WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with this man. He captures the American spirit.
USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USA!!!!!!!!!!!!! WERE NUMBER 1!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!! CANADA SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!!!!! I LOVE CHEESEBURGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USA>CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quebec is a province, not a providence which is in rhode island…I was with my family once, and we took about ten minutes and named each American state and capital of state… Btw, iamcanadian!!! Specifically the east coast naval centre…Halifax!!!! My mom was in the states once, and she had to rent a car, so she showed her drivers licence, and the guy behind the desk didn’t know how to say nova scotia. He pronounced it “nivee skishee” when in reality it is pronounced the way it is spelled “nova skosha” meaning new Scotland in Latin…my point is, I don’t think many Americans would be able to say what canada’s capital city is, let alone all the provinces/territories and their capital cities
To the american who said that canada is only bi-lingual because of Quebec needs to do some history research on that. Nova Scotia was the first province in which France landed and we still have many places in Nova Scotia that only speak french as well in New Brunswick more then half of New Brunswick is french speakers, Ottawa also is a bi-lingual city with more then half of there residents fluently speak french and english.
To: America,
Canada didn’t ‘win’ it’s independence in 1867, it’s head of state is still the crown – so much for Canadians not being part of burning our Capitol… Canadians generally started being recognized as an independent military during the first world war where Canadian’s were nicknamed ‘storm troopers’ by the Germans. Also notable was the first time all four canadian corps fought together; Vimy Ridge (look it up). I’m studying military history at Westpoint, and have developed a surprising amount of respect for our northernly neighbors. Keep up the good work fellas! Also, I go hunting in New Brunswick – they speak french there too, though it’s tough to tell, their english is pretty mangled.
To ‘America’; you’re wrong. I was watching that Rick Mercer report show, and he asked americans really crazy stuff, and they believed it!!! He even asked the smartest lawyer, when Bush was elected president! And that lawyer didn’t even correct him!! …”having the top universities in the world”, ha, try, “having the lowest IQs ever”. I know I shouldn’t be biased, but really, grow up. We did beat you in the war of 1812. You americans are cocky, way more than us. And we have top health-care. And you know what? We have the Sleeping Giant, one of the seven wonders in the world!! What else? It’s in Thunder Bay!! And plus, you are taking water from Lake Superior while we run it thoroughly through a water plant, but we make it more cleaner. You guys do nothing but take, and you’re over in 180 trillions of dollars of debt!
Humans for some reason believe their shit doesn’t stink, but everyone else’s does. We must remember to not disregard the stink of our own shit, because it would probably be better to focus on making our poo smell like roses than telling our neighbors to do it before we do. Let`s lead by example, instead of arguing like little kids over who`s shit smells better. For you slower ones: FOCUS ON FIXING YOUR OWN COUNTRY BEFORE TELLING YOUR NEIGHBORS WHAT THEY NEED TO DO. SOMETHING AMERICA AND THE REST OF THE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD WHO THINK THEIR HOT SHIT REALLY NEED TO WORK ON. LIKE PAC SAID “` CANT HAVE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHEN WE DONT HAVE IT ON OUR OWN STREETS.“`
Superman was invented in Canada?
No.
Superman was invented by two people – Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel – in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. True, Shuster was Canadian-born, but he had moved to the US when he was ten. So, at best, you could say that half of the team that created Superman was born in Canada, but you could certainly NOT claim that Superman was “invented in Canada.”
In America, we call it “fact-checking.”
P.S. – Most of us don’t know what the capital of Canada is because we don’t care because Canada is not important to us.
@ notsomuch Quote “P.S. โ Most of us donโt know what the capital of Canada is because we donโt care because Canada is not important to us.”
That comment is typical of a very self absorbed culture. You would care if you knew how much the United States and Canada benefit from each others Ecomomies. You are fooling yourself if you think Canada is not important to the United States. We all need to realize that our respective countries have faults… I’m not of the opinion that Canadians are better than Americans..Nor vice versa. I am of the opinion, however, that alot of Americans are more unfamilair with our country and culture, than we as Canadians are of yours.. Possibly due to our education system.. We learn as much about world history as we do of our own.. (as short as it is).
Anyways imma canadiens and for those who think that Americans are the most, go to he’ll becuz one, our most popular store is walmart not MCDONALDS fat ass’s. O and btw the guy that said GO AMERICA WERE # 1, well ur wrong. I’m not bragging here but Canada’s national sport is hockey and American will Neva take that away. So I live in Nova Scotia and I’m FRENCH so for those who think that it’s only quebec ur wrong. I used to live in Ontario and it was like 49% French. GO CANADA WE HAVE 13 PRVINCES AND TERRITORIES NOT A COMPLICATED 52 or whateva it is!…………………..eh
O btw US can’t live without canada
Well I truly believe that America is going to flunk out soon. I love canada and give it a 10/10 and America a 3/10. I’m Canadian and here’s what the 10 things I like bout Canada.
1. Canada is the second biggest country in the world
2. I live in Nova Scotia and most of us aren’t fat.
3. We have 13 provinces and territories and not a confusing 52
4. Quebec is not the only bi lingual province there’s nova scotia PEI and New Brunswick
5. We don’t say “yay” at the end of phrases and make ourself wound stupid
6. We got the world record for most gold medals in the olympics(2010)
7. Our military helped in like 10 was 8. We like Tim hotrods and not mcDonald like the American
9. 75% of us aren’t fat and 75% of America is fat 10. We have brains
Sorry when I said was I meant wars ( see number 7)
I am sorry, but you made a mistake:
Television was actually created by the Germans. Regular television broadcasts began in Germany in 1929. Their first channel – the Fernsehsender Paul Nipkow – was established nearly 30 years before the Americans had television.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) adopted the American NTSC 525-line B/W 60 field per second system as its broadcast standard. It began television broadcasting in Canada in September 1952. The first broadcast was on September 6, 1952 from its Montreal, Quebec station CBFT. The premiere broadcast was bilingual, spoken in English and French. Two days later, on September 8, 1952, the Toronto, Ontario station CBLT went on the air. This became the English-speaking flagship station for the country, while CBFT became the French language flagship after a second English language station was licensed to CBC in Montreal later in the decade. The CBCโs first privately owned affiliate television station, CKSO in Sudbury, Ontario, launched in October 1953 (at the time, all private stations were expected to affiliate with the CBC, a condition that was relaxed in 1960โ61 when CTV, Canada’s second national English language network, was formed).
I’m a 14 year-old American, and I have argued for a long time saying America’s smart, etc. But now, I kind of realized that the majority is dumb. Although, the people who actually DO try to work hard and those that are smart are actually pretty intelligent. I mean, the ones who actually ARE smart are really smart. Google resides in America, and it controls a great part of the internet. Then we have Microsoft and Apple. Both are in America.
I’ve studied a bit about Canada, and I’ve realized it’s a very beautiful and peaceful country. The Parliament is especially exquisite. Now I’m just talking about it’s natural scenery. It’s brains, though. IT’S BRAINS are like WHOA! Canada is extremely smart and I hope to visit it for a while. The majority of Canadians ARE very smart and skinny. Quantity makes up for quality. Canada may have many smart people, and America few, but America’s smart people are super-smart. And I am a Muslim, so I wouldn’t know about how many people go to McDonalds and stuff, because I don’t eat meat, therefore am pretty slim.
I eat a pretty healthy diet. But I’m just one person, I know. Just to let you know, I’m in the top .13% of the intelligent people in the world. Although, that’s just according to a national Intelligence Quota Test, so it may not necessarily be true. I like taking in both sides of the argument and saying it’s pros and cons. Please don’t diss off America, we don’t have enough power to help with the stupid people and gangs and stuff. Some of us are smart. (Although I do hate how many Americans think. They are SO lazy. Just play video games, do drugs, have sex, eat. No time to think about their studies. I, myself, just read 24/7. My parents don’t let me outside and think video games are a waste.) Well, thank you.
Penicillin, wrong.
Fleming of England discovered it’s effect’s first, And Florey of Australia was the first to realise it’s full potential, and along with a lot of other’s got it up and running. So penicillin no.
man metal bit man is right america does usck not only are a good chunk of our population obese but our alcohol kinda sucks and because the government is so damn bad people smoke, drink and fight each other constantly and were gettiong deep in debt w/ other countrys (or so i heard)
Well, I don’t personally think America is better than Canada nor is Canada better than America. Although I do prefer Canada, that’s probably because I’m Canadian. One thing I’m ashamed to admit, though, is that I get EXTREEMLY annoyed when I hear ”America is the land of the free!” Just because… well… they make themselves sound like the only free country in the world. In truth, I find Canada more free than America because we were the place where the slaves from the South escaped to, we allow same-sex marriage… and we have a way lower drinking age, too ^_^ Still, I heard somewhere that the name ”Land of the Free” accually comes from the fact that when America was the Thirteen Colonies they were given freedom by the British to make certain choices, like choice of religon (correct me if I’m wrong). Canada was also given freedom to keep their Catholic religon and French language after they became a British colony when the French lost the Seven Year’s War, though.
America and Canada need each other, let’s face it. Canada gets a crapload of money from America through oil and other resources because we have a lower population and therefore have extra to sell, and America also sells a crapload of stuff to us. America’s also the #1 tourist destination for Canadians. It’s a cool place to visit, and if you don’t like planes you can just drive there (although it takes awhile).
Lastly, to that ”America” person… if it was British settlers that burned down the white house, then I guess it was British settlers who won the war of independance, eh?
Just a small point…
Television invented by – John Logie Baird – SCOTTISH
Telephone – Alexander Graham Bell – SCOTTISH
Penicillin – Alexander Fleming – SCOTTISH
Not sure of the other ones and there will be some conflicting arguments against these inventors I have no doubt!
Hello, I live in United States, and It really doesn’t matter. Yeah thats right, It doesn’t matter. Why worry about others, worry about how you can contribute to all of our Planet, how to help it, and make it better. I love all cultures and think they have a GREAT something to offer. Eastern countries such as, China, India, Japan have a never say die, and never give up attitude ALL other countries should strive for. England, France, Spain and Italy Cling to culture and learn from past failures then improve. Canada, and many Island cultures ect, value peace, love and family. Lastly, America belive in choice and freedom. All countries have a lesson to teach and If one is open enough to learn it. I love America, There are not many places on our planet where a kid who remembers going hungry many nights due to poverty can become a M.D. The opportunities in this country are endless If you let them be. I have many collegues from various countries around the world. Non of whom, myself included belive a persons destiny is shaped by their I.Q. A person with a higher I.Q and a Average Joe both want to be engineers. The person with the higher I.Q will have a less diff time, however the other can still learn the material if they choose to. The end result is that they both are engineers, and they both have the same knowledge base. I.Q has nothing to do with anything!!!!!! Ambition and the Japanese mentality of never give up will get you where ever you want to go.. Promise.
Guys, ok Canada IS better than America in many ways, but you guys miss huge points.
1- America has a stronger army.
2-Its not like USA does give a $&%^ about Canada being the 2nd biggest country, since USA could occupy Canada with ease (We all know it)
3- Ok I personally know 85% of the Americans are, hell, very stupid, but the 15% rules the world. Those 15% are super smart, as a prove, just view some statistics about the USA economy vs world economy and the companies from America.
4- Canada is the second biggest country, but I would really like to ask how much of that ground would be usable for building a city. You can barely live in 90% of Canada since its all cold and snowy.
5-At hockey Canada usually beats, yes, but name me another sport you can beat USA. Rugby? No. Basketball? No. I could count on.
6-I dont understand the canadians who say US couldnt do without canada. Its not like we need any help,
7-Canadians are really stupid for writing “We know 2 languages”. Darn, yes your country does speak 2 languages, although, some of them know english and the other side french. Basically there are rarely any people who do know both language.
Ummm world Police, did u just say America is known for freedom becuz u are wrong. Canada is know for freedom AND it even said in our National Anthem. So u can think all that all nations are equal but they are not. Germany tried to attack great Britain and Japan bombed Hawaii. ONE THING ALSO IS THAT EVERY COUNTRY EXCEPT 1 LOVES CANADA AND MANY COUNTRIES HATE AMERICA INCLUDING CUBA
I dont know where to begin. 1) I’ll start with the War of 1812. First why is something that happened how long ago even referenced. Canadians can think that they won the war of 1812 all they want they DID NOT burn down the white house or fight that much, most of the troops were pretty much all British regulars. Canadians did i will admit repel Americans after York was sacked. The war was started over british impressment of US sailors. USA was on the defensive trying to defend it self against Britain (the most powerful country in the world at the time)they did push the brits back into canada and the US went followed. The war ended with no territory gained or lost. Canada did establish itself by defending itself but so did the united states.
I dont really want to bother about the other nonsense referenced. Canada is always trying to compare itself or say they are better than the US. Americans really dont one way or the other about canada. Im not saying canada suck or anything canada is a great country there are alot of cool things about canada.
@ Cassijade Americans were not given freedom they fought a war for it.
@ SamV You have your opinion about about Canada and I respect that. One should have alot of Pride for there country. Im pretty sure the united states can live without canada after all the united states was founded before canada. Canada and the US complement each other. The US is a better country because canada is right next door and canada is better because the US is right next door the two complement eachother. Im pretty sure we can all agree on one thing wither we be Canadian or American at least we dont share a boarder with Lybia.
I have to admit, America/U.S is a cool country and all that, but i get REALLY annoyed when they boast about their country, about every little thing. Why do i think that way? well, 1, i’m Canadian, 2,Canada and America/U.S (see, they don’t even have a proper name-no offense) are supposed to be best friends, but U.S/America is always in the spotlight, while poor Canada is stuck living in it’s shadow, when without Canada, the U.S wont be what it is today.
I was soooo upset when we lost that baseball game against you-know-which-country a few days ago, and when the Vancouver hockey team lost against them. That just gives them another reason to boast. In my opinion, Canada is waaaaay better than U.S/America. I feel like pouring all my thoughts about why i’m really annoyed at you-know which-country, but that would take eternity, so i won’t do that.
but, i can’t wait to see the U.s/america being beaten by us in the future olynpics ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
CANADA IS AWESOME!!!
i’m especially annoyed when they say that we are “so quiet that many have forgotten we exist”, or when they call our beautiful country “a huge chunk of barren land that calls it’self a country” or “our adorable little tag-along brother”
oh, i think i’m letting myself get too carried away
WHO CARES WHICH COUNTRY IS BETTER-OBVIOUSLY CANADIANS CARE ABOUT AMERICA WAY TOO MUCH (ALL THESE ANTI-AMERICAN POSTS PROVE THAT). I want to see an actual intellectual response with some possible insightful ideas. Canadians claim they are more intelligent than Americans yet I believe these posts counter that claim.
Saying Canada is better because its a bigger country is now considered intelligent? Everyone taking this list as FACT. These posts mostly opinion none offer a source to back up these outlandish claims.
If the United States is so stupid why am I the only one to point this out. Both Countries are smart nations.
Just Answer this if you wish to respond. Your computer at home it is probably either A PC with some sort of Microsoft operating system, or a Mac with a Macintosh operating system both were designed by really smart men whom dominate the computer industry. I have yet to hear of other systems used as widely as them. BOTH MICROSOFT CORPORATION AND APPLE INC. ARE AMERICAN. (THAT MY FRIENDS IS AN ACTUAL FACT)Someone please tell me since your computer software is American How are Canadians More intelligent than Americans.
@Justin BTW the world war one was canada to hold. The Brits honored us for our bravery and at least WE joined the war. US didn’t even go. Only at the end.
@Justin Canada eventide most of UR sports besides a couple like cricket and baseball but we eventide basketball, hockey, gymnastics, etc. And wow don’t take all the credit for computers becuz btw I’m on an iPod (I don’t care if it was made in US)
wow, calm down. you sounded like a bomb thats about to explode!(typical americans- no offense)
that list is full of stereotypes, thats true( even though some of them are true :D), but there are tons of American tv shows that make fun of Canadians, like “The Great White North” search it up on Yahoo if you dont beleive me. Thats probably why some of us are so anti-american. we’re sick of Americans making fun of us, thinking we live in igloos, saying “Eh” in every sentence (note i never used it in my posts),thinking that we’re stupid and weak.I guess we wanted to show them that we’re not harmless weaklings.
sorry if i offended you a little in that last comment. i guess i did get too carried away. You’re right. both nations are smart, but in their own way.
About that last part, its true americans invented the computer, but i wonder where they got all the resources to make it. Thats right, in Canada. Each country help each other and help support each other when needed. like i said before, we’re supposed to be friends.
@ Sam V ***you are obviously some Kid with little knowledge of actual facts. Allow me to educate you.
Are you sure you want to talk war history and the united states and Canada’s involvement. The United States joined the War also in 1917. Now since you really want to bring up involvement Canada mobilized almost 700 thousand troops for the war The united states mobilized more than 4 million not bad for a country that joined the War late.
Moving on since Basketball was “INVENTED” (learn to spell and you call America stupid, if you cant your american made computer can spell check)
-Basketball was invented in Springfield, Massachusetts (USA) yes by a Canadian but a Canadian who immigrated to the United States.
@Hello
I respect your posts and I agree that some shows do make fun of Canada. I can name several shows and movies that do make fun of Canada but its comedy. BTW you didnt offend me its the ignorance of some others hating on my fellow Americans saying we are all stupid. I think I have demonstrated that not all are stupid.
I know Canada is not full of weaklings -Hell Canada helped storm the beaches of Normandy (June 6th 1944)You have some interesting things to say and I look forward to your response. Maybe I will learn some new information on my neighbors to the North.
@ Justin. I admirer Ur sayings. U DON’T KNOW A SINGLE THING ABOUT CANADA. and yes I’m a Kid but I am 13 but atleast I’m smarter than UR dum ass. Anyways. If u look at UR population at that time and ours. Ull find out that Canada had not that many ppl. And if u say that US had like 4 million ppl. GOOD, but that is SMALL compared to UR population at that time. 700 is pretty big for us.
Anyways I don’t care if basketball was invented inside the USA. It’s just the fact that it was A CANADIAN. Even if he admired the US, it was still a CANADIAN.
I’m not saying that I HATE the US but it’s at the bottom of my like list. I love florida and all that but u don’t need to get all cocky. US is in Debt and Canada isn’t. Don’t respond to that last comment. And we don’t say “eh” at the end of each sentence, but we do at some times and An American made a rumor saying that. We have a beautiful country and u have to admit it.
As a Canadian, I think the #1 reason we Canadians think Americans are idiots should be: Their complete ignorance on Politics, and exceptional political greed. Americans get shit on daily by their governing powers, tax hikes whenever they feel like it, to pay for the American army to police the globe when crime is crazy back home. You the Americans people pay for that with your hard earned money without any objections, and your country is 21 trillion in debt. Why do the American people not see this. Also propaganda is eating away at the intelligence of the mass public, you people believe anything your government tells you, and those of you who dont believe are to scared to do anything about it. Really from Canadian point of view your country is being held hostage by the governing powers, I’d say similar to nazism, those of you who disagree with the governing powers and voice your opinion are never heard from again or found dead or the made famous American phase : He/She is a sex offender. Here in Canada we found out our Prime Minister had taken the country jet to take his family to the Bruins/Canucks game in Bostom and we as a public freaked and demand he cover the cost not Canada, which of course he was forced to do, the point Im trying to make is we in Canada are a fearless towards our politicians and demand answers, which secures our freedoms and equality. Americans have let the politicians steal the power from the public and live in constant fear about what COULD happen next.
@ Justin and Sam War is irrelevant. We’re in times where war does not make a country great. It reflects negatively to the rest of the global community. In other words Nobody likes a bully it also creates comtempt for the overly aggressive countries. It’s also is a major contributing factor in the ongoing economic crisis in the United States which the tax payer suffers for. War is no long relevant, every country should be givin the oppertunity to evolve independently as we Canadians and Americans have, regardless of the governing platform, willingness to negotiate with specific countries, corp, etc. and regardless of rase. We as Canadians and Americans would not take the Communist governing platform if China were to try to enforce it on us why would we expect other countries to bow to such acts. We are free societies as should they be, that doesnt mean they should have Democracy it means they should choose their own type of freedo
@Sam V America is at the bottom of your list Yet you love Florida? Answer this one question calmly and rationally. What goes into the criteria of your list? I would hope you know more about Canada after all you live there, But now more about The United States, NO.
@Infamous Valdon There is no way I disagree with American politicians being greedy. True the country is in debt due to alot of War. But this is where you are wrong not all americans stand idol while this goes on there are protests of mass proportions. But this fantasy about shady dealings and people never being heard from again is just silly. The american people dont live in constant fear of what is goig to happen next. I dont think you have a clue of what goes on inside the US.
Now comparing the American government to Nazism is totally ridiculous and offensive. It is offensive to the memory of the innocent Jewish people whom lost their lives to compare the American government to a regime that is responsible for the murders of over 11 million people. in death camps.
@Justin Your ignorance is endless, The American government has murdered well over 11 million people world wide and continue to do so. Lets see Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabian, Pakistan, Libya and the true American atrosity Guantรกnamo Bay, where I might add Americans are torturing not only other nationalities but Americans alike. If thats not Nazism is, why don’t you explain it to me what it is. The only difference is German Nazis killed Jews, American Nazism Kills Muslims and disagreers of American politics which I understand is what is called terrorism. So why is it if all these Americans are protesting major issues, that the most currupt corporation on the globe the Federal Reserve Bank, which isn’t even a Federal organization still continues to rape and pillage the American economy for close to 100 years. I know more about your country then you, thats just one of those examples you where searching for how Canadians are more intelligent then Americans. You brag about American creating computers, and now since that creation more and more peoples jobs are being taken by automated computers, so now world wide unemployment has increased considerably directly in connected to that creation. Plus I’ve never in my life ever been to a more rasist country and I travel monthly. You as an American are sheltered from what really goes on by what your government lets you see. They’ve taken over the media and if not already, have censored the internet within America. For you to say that your government does not harass and occasionally murder citizens for their political views, shows how ignorant you are, I have watched it unfold pletty of times more then I actually care to remember. The most recent being Bradley Manning. America has always had a boogie man, who do you think creats that boogie man, if not your government?
Not to mention the 226 000 Japanesse who died because of the nuclear bombs.
@Justin By the way German Nazis Killed 5.75 million jews not 11 million.
@ justin. U don’t know what my list is. It’s economy and beauty. It’s also government. Canadas beats u guys in government, 3/4 beats in NATURAL beauty. Not hand made and it ties in economy.
Canada is all around a better country, we’re excepting people who love nature, are easy going but very critical when an issue arises, our country is vast and beautiful. We treat eachother as equals. (for the most part) Don’t get me wrong America is also a beautiful country, and most of her citizens are decent people, but capitalism is a major issue which has plaged the system for years. Money is worth more then human life in the States, hence privatised hospitals. Corporations are publicly subsidized and at the same time privately profitable, They take the tax payer contributions and yet return nothing, in most cases dont even pay tax themselves. Goldman Sachs CEO made 49 million dollars and Goldman Sachs as a corporation only paid 14 million, seem strange at alll. I’m not a mathematician but I’m smart enough to know thats not mathematically possible. The kicker is the citizens tax actually increased. If American are protesting, what is actually being done, besides the government ignoring the protesters and major issues. The only reason I even care to research Americas politics and economy is because they often effect Canadas policies and economy respectively.
@Justin Check out these songs by a political Canadian band called Propagandhi the songs are Dear Coach’s Corner, Supporting Caste, I Was A Pre-Teen Mcarthyist, The State-Lottery and …And We Thought That Nation – States Were A Bad Idea. These songs will give you insight to how Canadians think about politics
@ Infamous Valdon
judging by what you say that means the government would want to take you out for knowing to much. since you apparently visit the united states weekly whats to stop them from taking you out. luckily what you say is fantasy so your safe. You call me ignorant I call you a paranoid Schizophrenic.
Im not saying shit does not happen in Guantanamo Bay. But Canada doesn’t have to worry about terrorism like the United States After all you have the US to combat terrorism for you. YOUR WELCOME
Canada is such a loving country that Vancouver will riot after the Stanley Cup Loss
@Justin Paranoid Schizophrenic, Lol, your a funny guy. Okay, Canada doesn’t need to fight terrorism because we’re loved around the world, why would anybody what to terrorise us. The reason these people your government call terrorist are attacking the States is because the States has already attacked their native countries, they clearly just want to retaliate for their lost friends and family. The States has hurt millions of foreigners over the past 100 years. Personally I honestly believe that your government are the real terrorist. They terrorise countries for natural resources and political willingness to deal with the US and then when an individual or group of individuals who have had their lives turned upside down, get together and want revenge for the injustices committed on them and their country man, the US government calls them terrorist. Ask yourself this question: If China where to go into the States and bomb your country for the oil reserves, and your people band together to fight them off for invading your country and unjustly stealing your resources, would that make you guys the terrorist? or would China be the terrorist for aggressively pursuing your resources? Im sure you would have answered that China in that senario would be the terrorist. Well my friend the US has played out that senario over and over again, them playing the role as China. So the pendulum of judgement now points itself in the United States direction. The US doesn’t fight “terrorism” for Canada they fight it as a reaction for the unjust actions they’ve committed against other countries. And I’m sure you can see that we take hockey very serious here in Canada, lol, combined with partying, equals trouble. Im sorry for the name calling that was very childish of me, I actually enjoy comparing opinions with you. One more question, why does it seem that all or I should say most of the so-called “terrorist” that the States are chasing are of Arab decent? Seems like “terrorism” is just glorified rasism, does it not? Furthermore all of these “terrorist” cells seemed to be in countries, that the US has pillaged for resources at one time or another, huh, curious! There is no way you can deny anything I have just said, really it’s common place knowledge.
@Justin I wasn’t sayin the US government will take you out for knowing to much, I meant they will silence you in one way or another, for a difference of political view, and motives, I just watched a BBC program which was based around harassment and intimation by police officers on citizens for promoting the only politician in the US senate that I personally see fit Ron Paul, Im sure you already know about this though, what are your thoughts of Jesse Ventura, he was an active US congressman who seems to think curruption is rampant in the US government, he must have seen some things to come to such a strong opinion, dont you agree?
I am a cdn citizen, and this is a foolish list of points-superficial and hypocritical. Read the first one carefully, it makes no sense. He implies that all canadians speak both languages(far from true) and are therefore smarter than americans because they can’t handle one language(despite the millions who speak spanish and english). What a stupid list of points that are typically embarrasing or at least should be.. Some advice to fellow canooks, i would look at ourselves really close In the mirror before throwing stones. Most Canadians have little true understanding of america or americans (we watch too much tv and pay attention to our own propaganda) which is very sad because we are in fact pretty much american ourselves. Perhaps thats why most of us canadians have such a hard time defining our identity. Maybe its because we are just not grown up enough to accept who we really are culturally. American.
Okay, so when someone makes up these kind of lists and titles it with Canada, it isn’t Canada, it’s Ontario, its always been about Ontario, forget about Saskatchewan, apparantly, we don’t exist.
But yes, I’ve been to the states several times and they don’t even know what Saskatchewan is, let alone where it is. Though, Canada is extremely important to the US, they don’t even stop to think that living in an igloo is impossible since we get hot summers. All I’m saying is Americans are ignorant bastards!
