Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in Canada, and it has the mildest weather in the country. In the winter, when most of the country is under a deep freeze and tons of snow, Vancouverites are treated to above freezing temperatures with the occasional double digit temperature week, and lots of rain- which is easier to handle than having to shovel snow on a daily basis. In the summer, the temperature is also mild, while the rest of the country deals with heat wave after heat wave.
Vancouver’s mild weather makes it a great place to go boating, especially in the summer when the sun is shining and the skies are blue. The boating experience is made even better by the beautiful scenery surrounding the city; on one side there are the beautiful mountains, on the other, the cityscape, and of course, the open waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Boat lovers have many options when it comes to buying their dream boat, to be enjoyed on Vancouver’s beautiful waters. There are numerous boat dealers in and around the city, offering the latest boats from world famous manufacturers. Of course, if you don’t want to buy a boat but still want to go out to the ocean or go on one of the many local lakes, there are plenty of boat rental options, at reasonable prices. I’m not sure whether you need a boat licence to rent a boat, it’s advised to check with the local boating authority or check with the boat rental place, before you make plans to rent a boat.
If you are in the market for a boat, the best place to go to is the Vancouver International Boat Show. The show takes place every year at the beginning of February, at BC Place and Granville Island marina. The show features hundreds of boats from the affordable to multi-million yachts, produced by big and small manufacturers. The show isn’t just for people looking to buy a boat, many people go to the show just to get out the house and make it a family outing event. The show has lots of activities for the kids and has a dedicated section just for the little ones.
