October’s here, and Pumpkin Spice Latte season is upon us! Whenever my best friend travels in the fall, she makes a point of finding a few cafes that locals love, so she can try a pumpkin spice latte in every new place she visits. It’s a cute little tradition, and since she’ll be visiting me soon, I’ve put together 3 of my favourite pumpkin spice lattes in Toronto to share with her and all of you!
Almond Butterfly
Over on Harbord, Almond Butterfly puts out some of the most delicious food and hot drinks I’ve had in the city. The cafe is entirely gluten free, and their baked goods are absolutely decadent and delicious… but their pumpkin spice lattes are to die for! They use their own syrups to mix them up for you, happily telling you that the syrups are free of preservatives, so they’re that much more health conscious than your average cafe.
FIKA
I love FIKA, it’s the cutest little cafe in Kensington Market, and you all know that’s my favourite neighbourhood in Toronto. FIKA was designed and decorated with Swedish themes in mind, and while they don’t quite have a pumpkin spice latte on the menu, they do have a cardamom spice latte that I’d argue is even more decadent. It is so full of the flavours of fall, and the deep spice notes of cardamom and cinnamon are accentuated with the clever use of bitters and spice blends.
Cocoa Latte
If you’re into gelato (and who isn’t), this little shop is a good choice to visit when you’ve got some pumpkin spice latte cravings. You can grab a fall-themed scoop of gelato, or a slice of pumpkin pie to eat alongside your pumpkin pie latte. The PSL at Cocoa Latte is generous, and is made with delicious Rufino coffee, and you can really tell that the owners invested a lot of time in crafting their drink recipes.
